The Nederlof Foundation

The Nederlof Foundation, established by the Taylor Family, aims to support rural Nova Scotia communities. The Nederlof Foundation aims to leave a lasting impact throughout the province.

About Us

The Nederlof Foundation, established by the Taylor Family, aims to support rural Nova Scotia communities through several key pillars. The Foundation was named in honor of Robert’s mother, Cornelia “Connie” Taylor, using her maidenname Nederlof. As a war bride who immigrated to Canada, Connie played an instrumental role inlaying the foundation of the family business, which Robert would later expand and develop into its present form.

The Taylor Family’s business began in 1916 and was incorporated in 1945, becoming a lasting symbol of hard work and community values. Inspired by Connie’s resilience and the Taylor Family’s legacy, the Nederlof Foundation was created to give back to the people and places that make rural Nova Scotia home. Rooted in principles of community, sustainability, and care for future generations.

The Foundation supports initiatives in youth development, education, health and wellness, and environmental stewardship, continuing the Taylor Family’s tradition of leaving a lasting impact across the province.

Guided by Our Pillars

The Taylor Family’s values and priorities shape how the Nederlof Foundation gives back, and are reflected in the six pillars outlined below.

Education and Youth Development

We invest in programs and initiatives that empower the next generation through access to education,
skills training, and mentorship opportunities. By creating pathways for growth, we aim to unlock the
potential of young people in rural communities.

Food Security

The Foundation supports local food banks, community kitchens, and sustainable agriculture projects to ensure families have consistent access to nutritious meals.

Health, Mental Health, and Wellness

Stronger communities are built on healthy individuals. We partner with organizations that improve access to healthcare, promote mental wellness, and provide resources for those in need of support.

Youth and Seniors

Bridging generations strengthens the very fabric of our communities. We provide opportunities and
programs designed to nurture youth while also supporting seniors with dignity, respect, and meaningful engagement.

Sports and Recreation

From playgrounds to community sports programs, we champion opportunities for people of all ages to connect, stay active, and build lasting friendships through recreation and physical activity.

Innovation, Technology, and Sustainability

We support initiatives that bring new technologies, sustainable practices, and innovative solutions to rural Nova Scotia - ensuring long-term growth and environmental responsibility.
